Who Needs a SIM (Driving License) in Bali?
Anyone who wants to drive in Bali needs a local Indonesian driving license, or SIM (Surat Izin Mengemudi):
- Indonesian citizens: Can drive anywhere in Indonesia with a SIM
- Foreign residents: Can drive anywhere in Indonesia with a SIM if they have a temporary stay permit (KITAS) or permanent stay permit (KITAP)
- Foreign tourists: Can drive in Bali with an international driving license, but only under certain conditions
